Lilly and I woke up around sunrise to get these Venus-inspired, very soft-pink photos in a little park in the heart of Washington, D. C. She had been envisioning this shoot for a while, and her cause for celebration was graduating from an insanely vigorous Physician Assistant program. *throws confetti up in the air* Lilly is also a photographer and fellow artist — so she knew exactly what she wanted and I am so happy to have captured her vision.  I can’t wait to see what’s next for you, Lil!

A free bird leaps on the back
Of the wind and floats downstream
Till the current ends and dips his wing
In the orange suns rays
And dares to claim the sky.

The caged bird sings with
A fearful trill of things unknown
But longed for still and his
Tune is heard on the distant hill
For the caged bird sings of freedom.
